現在、日本国内において、建築士の設計による住宅は全国で４％にとどまっており、ここ数年横ばいである。では誰が住宅をつくっているかというと「工務店」と呼ばれる大工を中心とした小規模なビルダーであり、彼らの設計・施工によって全国の圧倒的シェア（約6割）をカバーしている。これは機械化・工業化が成熟を迎えた現代において、非常に稀有な状況だ。ほぼすべての産業における小規模工場がシュリンクしていった中で、住宅設計業においては未だ近代以前とメインプレイヤーが変わっていないのである。 そこで、建主ではなく施工者向けに「デザインコード」と呼ばれる設計説明書をつくって提供した。これの手法によって、「設計を設計」することができる。 この手法を実装したサービスがミラタップより提供している「ASOLIE」。 日本中の多くの新しい建主が、より快適で楽しい住まいを手に入れられることを願う。

Currently in Japan, only 4% of houses are designed by licensed architects, a figure that has remained stagnant in recent years. So who is building the majority of homes? The answer lies with small-scale builders known as kōmuten carpenter-led local contractors, who are responsible for nearly 60% of the market through their own design and construction. In today’s era, where mechanization and industrialization have matured, this is an extremely rare situation. While small factories in almost every other industry have shrunk, the main players in residential design remain essentially unchanged from pre-modern times.

In response, rather than designing directly for clients, we created a “design code”, a set of design guidelines intended for builders. This approach allows us to “design the design process” itself.
