CONCEPT
二層間を貫く斜めの大黒柱が屋根を支えている。 敷地は東京世田谷区の住宅街。間口に対して奥行きの深い敷地であり、 耐力壁を取ろうとするとどうしても短辺方向に袖壁や間仕切り壁がでてきてしまう。そこでファサードと吹 き抜けた階段室にブレースを露出させた。そうすることで、開けた道路側に最大限大きな 開口を設けることができるとともに、室内の間仕切り壁を無くし、平面的にも断面的にも ずるずると繋がる広がりのある住まいをつくることができる。 中央の階段室に「動線」に加えて、「通風・採光」更に「水平耐力」という機能性を集中さ せることで、その他の室の自由度を高め、明るく風通しの良い住まいを実現した。
A diagonal main column piercing through two floors supports the roof of this residence, located in a residential neighborhood of Setagaya, Tokyo. The site is narrow in frontage but deep in plan, which would normally require sleeve walls or partition walls along the short axis to secure structural stability. To avoid this, braces were exposed on the façade and within the double height stairwell.
This strategy allowed for a maximized opening on the street facing side while eliminating interior partition walls, creating a spatial continuity that extends both horizontally and vertically. By concentrating multiple functions circulation, ventilation, daylighting, and horizontal bracing, within the central stairwell, the design increased the freedom of the surrounding rooms and achieved a bright, well ventilated living environment.
