CONCEPT

This project is a sauna designed to offer views of Ginza’s nightscape. From the rooftop balcony, where guests can relax in ponchos, the city unfolds toward the Sukiyabashi intersection. Surrounded by the scent of natural timber, the cedar of the structure and walls, and the cypress of the benches visitors can enjoy a calm and restorative time while still immersed in the bustle of Ginza.

While maintenance of the water facilities was carefully considered, every effort was made to use natural materials in their raw form. Wood, stone, and textured plaster finishes were left exposed, allowing guests to feel their rough, tactile qualities directly on the skin. In this way, the sauna creates moments in which people can regain a sense of vitality as living beings, even within the inorganic environment of the city.
